The Lousã Mountain with its landscapes and Ceira river turns this a preferential zone for vacations or weekends, by the natural beauty, tranquillity and easy access. You can discovery the mountain, the Schist Villages, fish at the river or discover our regional food, are some suggestions for a stay. Coimbra, Góis or Penacova are sorrounding places to visit. At Lousã, we suggest the Old Village where century XVIII houses can be found; it was a remarkable period of particular constructions, with architectonic apparatusand historical interest.
Then, you can't loose the Castle and the Ermida of the Our Lady of the Mercy and natural swimming pools, that tie in perfect symbiosis and harmony. To visit the Typical Schist Towns, you can go by car or by foot. If you choose the first option, will have to take the road to Castanheira de Pera (EN 236) and you'll find Candal and Cerdeira. The next point is Trevim, the higher point of Serra da Lousã (1204 m/alt.). Do not loose the chance to visit Sto. António da Neve, near Trevim.
To take the way down, you will find other Schist Villages (follow indications to Cacilhas) like Talasnal, Vaqueirinho, Chiqueiro, among other things. If you want to visit the Schist Villages first, you must follow the 'Aldeias Serranas' or 'Cacilhas' direction in Lousã.
